EXPERTISE / Expert review & second opinion
Expert review & second opinion
An independent technical reading of an existing study, monitoring dataset or design — stating clearly what it supports and what it does not.
Second opinions are usually requested at moments of consequence: before a costly protective work is commissioned, when two consultants disagree, when an authority must justify a restriction, or after an event.
The value of an independent review lies in its limits being explicit. My reports state the basis of the assessment, the confidence attached to each conclusion, and the points on which the available data does not allow a conclusion at all.
